We are passionate about improving the communities we live and work in every day. Community outreach is a way of life for our team many of whom choose to donate their time to charitable causes outside of MIKEN. Below is a small selection of some of the organizations we support at MIKEN.
Contractors for a Cause (CFAC)
Michael Cummings, the co-owner and CEO of MIKEN Builders, was a founding member of CFAC in 1998. Over the two decades CFAC has been active in the community, they have provided pro bono services and expertise in the field of home construction, maintenance, and repair to disadvantaged community members. Contractors for a Cause also holds annual events and provides scholarships to encourage young adults in the Bethany Beach area to thrive and realize their dreams, just like we help homeowners do every day.
Contractors for a Cause also supports local non-profits including Justin’s Beach House and the Justin Jennings Foundation. Michael Cummings was instrumental in the fundraising and leadership of the Beach House.
Surfin’ Snowman
We are the presenting sponsor for this annual Bethany Beach event to raise money for local non-profits that serve the community. It consists of either a 5 mile run or 2 mile walk. This event supports Justin's Beach House, Contractors for a Cause, and the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
Adopt a Family
Each year hundreds of families in need turn to St. Vincent de Paul to make Christmas special. We are matched with a household who we purchase presents for and a gift card to a grocery store so that they can make their favorite holiday meal.
Bay to Beach House Tour
The Beach and Bay Cottage Tour is an annual fundraiser produced by the Friends of the South Coastal Library (FOSCL) that features homes in various styles and personalities. We are a sponsor for this event each year.
Toys for Tots
The basic mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas. We participate by hosting a collection box in our office where members of the community can drop new, unwrapped toys in to be collected for these children.
Lord Baltimore PTO
During the 2024 summer, we helped the Lord Baltimore PTO build an outdoor classroom for students to have as another space for lessons. We donated all labor for this project and simultaneously helped them bring the adjacent environmental learning center back to life.
